The Russian state has seized assets worth 2.4 trillion rubles ($28.57 billion) from companies, many of which are controlled by foreign companies. This was announced by Russia's Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov, quoted by Reuters and BNR.
Through lawsuits that local courts quickly approve, Russian authorities have accelerated the nationalization of assets. Among them are ownership of Moscow's Domodedovo airport, strategic warehouses, as well as a company that produces zinc and lead.
Krasnov said during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin that five strategic companies have been nationalized. Four of them were "under foreign control", the Russian prosecutor general said.
He did not say exactly when the assets were seized, but the Kremlin began nationalizing them soon after launching a military offensive in Ukraine, Reuters notes.
