Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov visited the Caspian flotilla base in the city of Kaspiysk, Dagestan, and ordered the completion of its new headquarters and port facilities as soon as possible, Reuters and TASS reported, BTA reports.
During the working visit, Belousov heard reports from the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy, Admiral Alexander Moiseyev, and the commander of the Caspian flotilla, Rear Admiral Oleg Zverev. The main topics of the talks were combat readiness and progress in the construction of key infrastructure.
“We will take this facility under special control so that everything is done as it should“, Belousov was quoted as saying by the Russian Defense Ministry.
The statement also specified that the construction of coastal infrastructure for servicing military vessels is actively continuing.
