Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said that Ankara could join a peacekeeping mission in Ukraine if such a step is approved by both sides in the conflict, TRT Haber reported.
“There are two options - a ceasefire deal and a truce. Talks between President Trump and President Putin did not yield a final decision on a ceasefire. (…) If theoretically the two sides in the conflict agree to form a peacekeeping force as part of the agreements between them, we can make our contribution“ Fidan said, reiterating that Ankara would not take such action with the approval of only one of the parties to the conflict.
Fidan's statement comes amid international talks in Britain today by senior military officials on the details of a plan to support Ukraine. It is a strategic step in ensuring a swift response from the West in the event of a peace agreement between Kiev and Moscow.
