Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said at a regular press conference today that Britain and France are planning a “military intervention in Ukraine“ disguised as a peacekeeping mission, Reuters and TASS reported, BTA reports.
“I want to emphasize once again that Russia is categorically against such a scenario that could lead to a direct clash between Russia and NATO“, she commented on the initiative of some European countries to send military personnel to Ukraine as peacekeeping forces within the “coalition of the willing“.
According to Zakharova, Britain is aware of the danger of the proposed initiative and is therefore “cowardly throwing“ the idea of "depersonalizing" the military uniform of the possible Western contingent in Ukraine, which includes refusing to use distinctive signs.
“We understand why they are doing it. They want to provoke Europe into a bloody clash with Russia. I remind you that London left the European Union. And now their golden dream, after turning the EU economy upside down, is to push the entire European continent towards ruin“, Zakharova also said.
TASS recalled that on March 20, a meeting of military leaders from about 30 Western countries was held in London to discuss the operational details of sending troops to Ukraine after the end of the conflict. On the same day, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said that Britain was preparing plans for military land, sea and air operations in Ukraine in order to ensure compliance with the peace agreement.
