Italian police said on Monday they had broken up the country's largest illegal methamphetamine lab and arrested a student described as an avid fan of the TV series "Breaking Bad," Reuters reported, BTA reported.
The film follows the downward spiral of a high school chemistry teacher who uses his knowledge to produce and sell methamphetamine, also known as crystal methamphetamine.
The 22-year-old student from the northern Italian city of Novara has been charged with illegal drug production, police said in a statement. Under Italian law, he faces six to 20 years in prison.
Police officers who raided the property on March 21 found a large table with a "sophisticated distillation apparatus" on the ground floor, illuminated by dim red light and including flasks, glass tubes and heat-resistant ampoules.
In the attic, they found an area where drugs such as ecstasy and DMT were mixed and prepared, as well as "hallucinogenic stamps" - small pieces of paper soaked in drugs such as LSD, Reuters said.
