On April 1, a law came into force in Russia that prohibits school enrollment of children of migrants who do not speak Russian.
Their testing will begin on the same day. At the end of November 2024, Education Minister Sergei Kravtsov announced plans to create Russian language learning centers in Russia where children of migrants would study. This is expected to take two to three years.
The Rosobrnadzor interdepartmental working group on the organization of the development of test materials for Russian language proficiency has determined the initial scores for successful completion of the exam. For each grade, a maximum and minimum score is provided, as well as assessment criteria.
To successfully pass the test, they must receive three points, which are approved by order of Rosobrnadzor and correspond to a three on the traditional five-point scale in the country, and the required score is determined at a meeting of a specially created interdepartmental commission, which includes leading experts representing various institutions - schools, universities, scientific organizations.
A total of four tasks are offered for admission to the first grade. They test the ability to participate in a dialogue and create a monologue based on questions asked, understanding a listened text and mastery of vocabulary and grammar. The approximate testing time for each participant is 15 minutes.
