Donald Trump again threatens Iran with consequences if nuclear talks fail - 1

US President Donald Trump has again threatened Iran with severe consequences if a nuclear deal is not reached, AFP reports.

"I just sent them a letter and said: you have to make a decision one way or the other. We either have to discuss it or very bad things are going to happen to Iran," Trump told reporters in the Oval Office.

"I don't want that to happen. My great preference - and I'm not saying this out of strength or weakness - my great preference is to work with Iran. Bad, bad things will happen to Iran if it does not reach an agreement."

We recall that Iran announced earlier that it had not closed all doors to resolving its differences with the US regarding the nuclear deal. The country is ready for indirect negotiations. This was stated by Kamal Kharrazi, an advisor to Iran's Supreme Leader.

Tehran rejected President Trump's warning to make a deal or face military consequences. Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi indicated that negotiations are impossible unless Washington changes its policy of "maximum pressure".

Kamal Kharrazi clarified that the Islamic Republic is ready for indirect negotiations with the United States in order to assess the other side, state its own conditions and make the appropriate decision.

During his first term, Trump withdrew the US from the 2015 agreement. with Iran and world powers, which imposed strict restrictions on Tehran's disputed nuclear activities in exchange for sanctions relief. After Trump withdrew in 2018 and reimposed sweeping U.S. sanctions, the Islamic Republic has violated those restrictions through its uranium enrichment program.

Western powers accuse Iran of having a secret program to develop nuclear weapons by enriching uranium to a high level. Tehran says its nuclear program is entirely for peaceful purposes.
