In Russia, spring recruitment of citizens for military service begins within the period established by Russian legislation from April 1 to July 15.
Conscripts will not be sent to the front line, the Ministry of Defense said. The term of service remains 12 months. All conscripts will be sent to the points of permanent deployment of military units of the Russian Armed Forces.
The sending of conscripts to the assembly points will begin on April 10. According to the deputy head of the Main Organizational and Mobilization Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, Vice Admiral Vladimir Tsimlyansky, an exception will be made for teachers and citizens living in the regions of the Far North: for them, conscription will be held from May 1 to July 15. He emphasized that the conscripts will not be involved in the fighting.
In accordance with Putin's decree, 160 thousand people aged 18 to 30 who are in the reserve and subject to conscription will be called up to the barracks.
In 2024, the conscription was increased to 150 thousand people, in 2023 - to 147 thousand people, in 2022 - to 134.5 thousand people. The growth is associated with the implementation of Putin's decrees to gradually increase the size of the Russian army. At the beginning of 2022, there were about 1 million servicemen in Russia. Over the course of three years, the number of servicemen was increased to 1.5 million people.
For the first time, drafts will be sent electronically, while paper ones will also remain.
Conscripts who have served the established terms will be released in a timely manner and sent to their places of residence.
About a third of the conscripts will be sent to training units and military units, where within five months they will master modern military equipment and receive a military specialty. They will be sent to the troops in accordance with the skills they have acquired.
