Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov warned that possible strikes on Iran's nuclear infrastructure would have "catastrophic consequences" for the entire region, Russian state media quoted him as saying.
The warning comes just days after US President Donald Trump threatened to bomb Iran and impose secondary sanctions if Tehran does not reach a new agreement with Washington on its nuclear program.
In an interview with a Russian magazine, quoted by the TASS news agency, Ryabkov sharply criticized the American approach and described Trump's actions as "ultimatums", which Moscow finds "unacceptable and condemnable".
"We consider such methods unacceptable and condemn them," Ryabkov stressed.
We recall that Iran announced earlier that it had not closed all doors to resolving its differences with the US regarding the nuclear deal. The country is ready for indirect negotiations. This was stated by Kamal Kharrazi, an advisor to Iran's supreme leader.
Tehran rejected President Trump's warning to make a deal or face military consequences. Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi indicated that negotiations were impossible unless Washington changed its policy of "maximum pressure".
Kamal Kharrazi clarified that the Islamic Republic is ready for indirect talks with the United States to assess the other side, state its own conditions and make the appropriate decision.
