Russian drones launched a “massive” attack on the central Ukrainian city of Krivoy Rog late after the previous missile strike that killed at least 18 people, including nine children, a local official said, BTA reported.
"There is a mass attack by shaheeds", said Oleksandr Vilkul, head of the city's military administration, on Telegram, referring to the Iranian-designed drones. "There are fires in four sites from Shahedi strikes".
Regional governor Serhiy Lysak said the fires had started in private homes and posted a photo showing a building engulfed in flames.
Earlier, the Russian Defense Ministry said it had fired a missile at a location in the city where Ukrainian servicemen and foreign instructors had gathered. According to the ministry, the meeting took place in one of the city's restaurants.
"As a result of the strike, the enemy's losses amounted to up to 85 servicemen and officers of foreign countries, as well as up to 20 vehicles", the ministry said in a Telegram message.
The General Staff of the Ukrainian army said last night in a Telegram message that Russia was "again spreading false information".
"The missile hit a residential area with a playground", the statement emphasized. "With this latest violation of internationally recognized human rights norms, the insidious enemy shows that it is in no way seeking peace, but rather intends to continue its invasion and wage war to destroy Ukraine and all Ukrainians."
According to the Telegram channel "Military Observer" The Russian military struck a facility where foreign mercenaries were allegedly stationed.
The Telegram channel “War Against Fakes“ reported that Ukraine was spreading false information about the attack on Krivoy Rog, noting that "the playground and restaurant that the Ukrainian media wrote about were not damaged".
The channel noted that the explosion of an Iskander high-explosive warhead weighing over half a ton should have left a large crater on the ground, and the explosion of cluster munitions would have hit a large area with fragments.
Ukrainian media, after the strike on Krivoy Rog, stated that the strike was carried out in a residential area; according to their data, civilians were injured. Initially, there was talk of a strike on the "Magellan" restaurant.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky initially reported that 14 people, including children, were killed and five houses were damaged. The head of Kryvyi Rih, Oleksandr Vilkul, later announced 56 injured, including 18 dead, including nine children. Authorities said there was a playground near the site of the strike.
US Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink commented on the X missile attack on Kryvyi Rih on the social network, without mentioning Russia, but calling for an end to the war.
