The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) are already using fiber-optic drones with a range of 20 kilometers and new means of electronic warfare at the front, their commander-in-chief, General Oleksandr Syrsky, announced today, quoted by Ukrinform.
Syrsky wrote this on "Facebook" after a monthly working meeting dedicated to the development of autonomous weapons systems.
Drones play an important role in the conflict in Ukraine, BTA specifies.
"Autonomous technologies play a key role in modern warfare. With their help, defense forces are now effectively destroying the enemy and its equipment, with their share almost equal to that of the damage caused by artillery. And most importantly, by increasing the role of drones on the battlefield, we are saving the lives of our servicemen," the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine commented.
According to Syrsky, various types of Ukrainian autonomous weapon systems destroyed over 77 enemy targets last month - 10 percent more than in the previous month.
