The opponents of the Houthi rebel movement Ansar Allah are preparing to conduct a ground operation in Yemen, the television channel CNN reported, citing diplomatic sources.
The operation, which is likely to start from the south and east of the country, may receive naval support from the US and Saudi Arabia, including to establish control over the port of Hodeidah.
Analysts believe that only a small number of special forces may participate in the ground operation by the US, whose main tasks will be target designation and correction of air strikes.
On March 15, the US, on the orders of President Donald Trump, launched massive attacks on Houthi targets, who control about a third of Yemen's territory. According to the US Central Command, the operation is aimed at protecting US interests and ensuring freedom of navigation. In response, the Ansar Allah movement carried out a series of attacks on the US aircraft carrier Harry S. Truman in the northern Red Sea, using missiles and drones. There is no information about damage to the ship as a result of the attacks.
