The pressure on Russia “is still not enough”. Daily Russian strikes on Ukraine prove it, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky wrote on Telegram. He recalled the strikes with ballistic missiles on Kiev, with drones in the Kiev region, and the attacks on the Mykolaiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Khmelnytsky and Cherkasy regions. "The number of air strikes is growing. Thus, Russia shows its true intentions - to continue to practice terror as long as the world allows it," Zelensky stressed.
Over the past week, over 1,460 guided aerial bombs, almost 670 combat drones and more than 30 missiles of various types were fired at Ukraine, including more than two dozen on the night of April 6, he added. "They (the Russian armed forces. - ed.) are fighting against children playing on playgrounds," the Ukrainian president wrote, referring to Russia's strikes in Krivoy Rog, where at least nine minors were killed in the attack.
"There can be no easing of pressure."
"Such attacks are Putin's response to all international diplomatic efforts. Each of the partners - America, all of Europe, the whole world - saw that Russia will continue to fight and kill," Zelensky stressed. "Therefore, there can be no easing of pressure. All forces must be directed in the name of ensuring security and bringing peace closer," he added.
The pressure on Russia is still insufficient, and the daily Russian strikes on Ukraine prove it. Last night, ballistic missiles were launched against Kyiv, while attack drones targeted the region. According to Zelensky, “Putin does not want to end the war - he is looking for ways to leave himself opportunities to ignite the war at any moment with even greater force“. That is why it is necessary to continue to apply all forms of pressure on the Russian Federation, namely to strengthen Ukraine's defense capabilities, maintain sanctions and implement such diplomacy that leaves Moscow "no opportunity to kill," the Ukrainian leader also emphasized.
Massive air attack by Russia against Ukraine
On April 6, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that it had captured the village of Basovka in the Ukrainian Sumy region, but the Center for Strategic Communications and Information Security of Ukraine did not confirm this information. The representative of the State Border Service of Ukraine Andriy Demchenko said in a comment to journalist Andriy Tsaplienko that "currently there are Russian soldiers in Basovka, but the village is not under their control".
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, on April 6, the Russian armed forces carried out a massive air attack on Ukraine using drones, ballistic and cruise missiles. According to the head of the Kiev city military administration, Timur Tkachenko, one person was killed and three others were injured in the strike on Kiev.
Moscow accuses Kiev of attacks on energy infrastructure
Meanwhile, the Russian Defense Ministry's report for April 5 stated that the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) carried out seven attacks on the energy infrastructure of the Russian Federation in the Bryansk, Rostov and Voronezh regions, as well as in Crimea annexed by Ukraine. According to the Russian Ministry, a gas pipeline belonging to “Gazprom“ was damaged in the Voronezh region.
A day earlier, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that there had been “14 attacks on Russian energy infrastructure“. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation denied Moscow's statements, calling them a forgery.
Preparation for the future truce
News agencies also reported a meeting between Zelensky and the Chiefs of Staff of the French and British Armed Forces, Thierry Burkhard and Tony Radakin. The three discussed in Kiev the possibility of ensuring peace after the end of hostilities. According to the French representative, the specific issue was the possible deployment of international peacekeeping forces, AFP reported.
