Reunification with Abkhazia and South Ossetia is possible if the people of Georgia show patience.
This was stated by Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze in an interview with the "Imedi" TV channel.
"The restoration of Georgia's territorial integrity, in my opinion, is real if we show patience and this patience guides our policy. The resolution of this issue, of course, will depend on various factors, but with patience and the right policy, everything is possible," Kobakhidze said.
In August 2008, an armed conflict broke out between Georgia and South Ossetia after Georgian troops tried to take control of Tskhinvali. Russia sent troops on August 8 to protect Russian citizens and peacekeepers in the region, prompting Georgian troops to retreat. On August 26, 2008, the Russian Federation recognized the independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia.
