Russia is aggressively transferring weapons and other military equipment near a newly built railway line that connects the southwestern Russian city of Rostov-on-Don with Mariupol and Volnovakha in southeastern Ukraine, a spokesman for the Ukrainian Armed Forces said, quoted by Ukrinform, BTA reported.
According to Vladislav Voloshin, the Russian army is transferring forces and military equipment from the Donetsk region and from the territory of Russia through the occupied Crimean peninsula. "The training centers and facilities for the preparation of Russian assault troops are located mainly on the temporarily occupied Crimean peninsula. A certain amount of military equipment and weapons are also being transferred from there. "In addition, these forces are actively using a recently built railway line," the Ukrainian army spokesman added.
Voloshin noted that Ukrainian forces do not stop striking at the Russian army's logistics routes, but Russia is quickly restoring them. "They understand very well that their success depends entirely on logistics," the army spokesman added.
In February this year, Russia put into regular operation a railway line between Rostov-on-Don, Mariupol, Volnovakha and Donetsk. Russian occupation forces built the railway line to shorten the route for military supplies to the front.
