The US Chamber of Commerce (USCC) is considering suing President Donald Trump's administration to stop the president's new tariffs on foreign goods from taking effect, the American business magazine Fortune reported, citing two sources familiar with the matter.
According to the publication's sources, the chamber is being pushed to such a move by some of its largest members, which raises questions about the impact of the tariffs on their businesses.
The Fortune indicates that the USCC may insist that Trump's decision to impose the aforementioned tariffs quickly and through extraordinary powers is illegal.
The latest set of tariffs imposed by Trump has caused a collapse in capital markets on world, driving down stocks, precious metals and oil - moves the president insisted were only temporary.
Meanwhile, it was reported that Trump would veto the measure if the Senate decided to limit his authority to impose tariffs.
