Hackers post fake reports of Russian attack on Czech PM's account - 1

The official account of Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala on the social network X (formerly Twitter) was hacked on Tuesday morning. As a result of the attack, fake reports appeared on the account, including a claim of a Russian attack on Czech soldiers, which was confirmed by the government press service, quoted by Reuters, News.bg reports.

“The publication of an attack on Czech soldiers is not true“, said government spokeswoman Lucie Michut Jesachkova in an official statement to Reuters.

The message, written in Czech, claimed that Russian forces had attacked Czech military units near the border with Kaliningrad. It was deleted a short time later, along with other posts in Czech and English, including those related to the responses to the US tariffs.

Prime Minister Fiala's X account has over 366,000 followers. Access to it has now been restored and the fake posts have been removed.

Czech authorities have not provided any further information about the source of the attack. There is currently no official confirmation that an investigation by the national security services is underway.
