Slovakia is refunding money to people who were fined during the coronavirus pandemic, Agence France-Presse reported, BTA reported.

For this purpose, the country is creating a fund with a capital of over 3 million euros. These funds will be used to compensate people who did not comply with epidemiological measures introduced during the coronavirus pandemic.

The Slovak parliament approved with 78 votes “for“ against 66 “against“ draft legislation that will come into force on May 1.

During the coronavirus pandemic, failure to wear a mask or breaking the curfew was punishable by a fine of 65,000 euros.

Prime Minister Robert Fico was not in power at the time. Those who were fined will be able to apply for compensation until October 31, and must provide proof of having been fined or sign an affidavit.

In Lower Austria, an Austrian province bordering Slovakia, the far-right, with the support of the conservatives, has also set up a similar fund with a capital of 31.3 million euros, which will compensate people who are considered victims of vaccination. The compensation will not be paid to doctors who were subject to vaccination at the time.
