Poland: The cost of Ukraine's reconstruction has already reached 500 billion euros - 1

The cost of Ukraine's reconstruction is currently worth 500 billion euros. This was stated by Polish Minister for EU Affairs Adam Szlapka at the EU-Ukraine Business Forum.

“According to the latest World Bank estimates, the cost of Ukraine's reconstruction has already reached 500 billion euros and will continue to grow until the end of the war“, Szlapka said. The minister, citing a World Bank analysis, noted that about a third of these costs could be covered by private investors, provided that Kiev continues reforms.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal made a similar assessment on February 24 at a joint meeting with the Ukrainian government and the European Commission. The topic of Ukraine's reconstruction also figures in the agreement on Ukrainian mineral resources being discussed between Washington and Kiev.

The British magazine The Economist, citing its sources, reported that as part of the deal, Ukraine would have to transfer 50% of its future state revenues from natural resources and port infrastructure to a new investment fund that would be owned by the US government; Kiev would have to replenish this fund until its size reaches $500 billion. This fund would have to deal with the reconstruction of Ukraine.
