Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan announced that a possible meeting between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and former US President Donald Trump is being prepared. This was announced during a press conference on the last day of the Diplomatic Forum in Antalya, Türkiye Today reported, BTA reports.
According to Fidan, the location of the meeting has not yet been specified – the possibilities are that it will be held either in the USA or in Turkey.
The minister defined the forum, which brought together over 6,000 participants, including 21 heads of state and 64 ministers from 155 countries, as a significant platform uniting factors at the heart of global conflicts.
Fidan paid special attention to the crises in Gaza, Syria and Ukraine.
Regarding the conflict in Gaza, he stressed: “Our commitment to stopping the bloodshed in Gaza remains firm.“
Regarding the possibility of Erdogan's visit to Damascus, Fidan stated that such an idea exists: “Our president has an intention for such a visit. We are currently working on determining the appropriate conditions, time and organization.“ He added that Turkey is committed to preventing unwanted incidents in Syria.
Asked if Turkey could host future peace talks on Ukraine or Gaza, the foreign minister replied: “Our president is fully committed to peace efforts. Turkey has rare advantages - maintaining communication with both sides - which we intend to use for constructive diplomacy.“
