Finland will keep its eastern border with neighboring Russia closed until further notice, reports "Reuters".
The Scandinavian country has closed its land borders with Russia at the end of 2023. due to the increasing number of arrivals from countries such as Syria and Somalia.
It has accused Moscow of using migration as a weapon against it in retaliation for its joining NATO - a claim the Kremlin denies.
"The risk that instrumental migration will resume and expand, as seen earlier, remains likely", the Finnish government noted.
They added that they would regularly assess the situation and reverse or amend the decision if opening the border no longer poses "a serious threat to national security or public order".
Finland has also introduced an emergency law that allows it to reject asylum applications from migrants crossing the closed eastern border with Russia and send them back.
