Kiev is trying to preserve its unstable structure by extending general mobilization and martial law, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, quoted by TASS.

"The Kiev regime is undoubtedly trying to preserve its unstable structure," Peskov noted in a comment on Ukraine's decision to extend mobilization and martial law.

Earlier this week, the Ukrainian parliament extended the country's general mobilization period by 90 days, starting from May 9. Deputies also supported a proposal to extend martial law.

Peskov today accused Kiev of "actually not adhering" to the moratorium on strikes on energy facilities, which was agreed upon with the mediation of the United States. He added that the Kremlin is not yet ready to announce the exact moment when the moratorium will be lifted.

Last month, Russia and Ukraine confirmed to the United States that they agreed to stop their attacks on energy facilities, but subsequently the two warring countries have repeatedly accused each other of violating the moratorium, Reuters notes, specifying that it cannot independently confirm the information about the attacks.

Kiev rejects as false Moscow's allegations of Ukrainian attacks on Russian energy facilities.

Peskov also commented today on efforts to resolve the issue of the Iranian nuclear program through diplomatic means. "We will be ready to do everything that depends on us," the Kremlin spokesman stressed.

Trump threatens to strike Iranian nuclear facilities if the Islamic Republic does not reach an agreement with the United States on its nuclear program. Iran denies any intention to produce nuclear weapons and insists that its nuclear program is aimed solely at civilian purposes.
