Ukraine wants the Russian troops to "really cease fire in all directions," said the country's Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga on the social network X, commenting on the Easter truce announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"We also call on all our partners and the international community to be vigilant. Only actions, not words, reveal the truth: this war began and continues only because of Russia," the publication says.
Sibiga added that Russia could at any time agree to the proposal for a full 30-day ceasefire, which has been on the table since March.
Earlier, Putin met with the Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Valery Gerasimov. At this meeting, the Russian leader announced an Easter truce in the Ukrainian conflict. As the head of state stated, Russia assumes that the Ukrainian side will follow the example of the Russian Federation and also stop hostilities.
