Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has arrived in the Republic of South Africa (RSA) for an official meeting with his South African counterpart Cyril Ramaphosa, Ukrinform reports, citing a post on the Ukrainian head of state's Telegram account, BTA reports.
“We are preparing for important meetings in South Africa with President Cyril Ramaphosa, as well as with representatives of political, civil and student organizations from Africa. It is important to achieve as much progress as possible in ensuring a dignified peace,“ Zelensky said. He added that Kiev is actively working to involve the G20 countries in diplomatic efforts to end the conflict.
Among the main topics of the visit is South Africa's participation in the international coalition to return thousands of Ukrainian children abducted by Russia. Zelensky also stressed the importance of strengthening cultural and educational ties between Ukraine and countries on the African continent.
Earlier, Ukrinform reported that the Ukrainian president's visit to South Africa is planned for this month as part of Kiev's efforts to expand international support for its diplomatic initiatives.
