Former Polish Prime Minister Leszek Miller called on Ukraine to recognize Crimea as Russian territory in order to stop the war, Polish Radio ZET reported.
He said he was a supporter of establishing peace, even if it was fragile. It is not territories that are important, but human lives, the Polish politician believes.
According to Miller, “people must survive, because people are capable of changing any borders through the appropriate historical and diplomatic process. For more than 100 years, Poland did not have an official territory, but our nation existed,“ added Leszek Miller.
The former Polish prime minister noted that “the Americans are close to making a decision to withdraw aid to Ukraine, which would mean that Ukraine's situation will definitely worsen“.
Earlier today, Russia accused Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky of thwarting diplomatic efforts to reach a peace agreement after he refused to recognize Moscow's annexation of Crimea this week, “Reuters“ reported. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told reporters that it was becoming increasingly clear that Zelensky was incapable of negotiating an agreement to end the war.
The EU, for its part, accused Russia of being the aggressor. While claiming to be seeking peace, Russia is shelling Kiev - this is not a search for peace, but a mockery of these efforts, said the EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaia Kallas. Russia is the real obstacle (to negotiating peace) and has not changed its goals in the war, she added on the social network "Ex", BTA reported.
