Beirut: Hezbollah will not surrender its weapons until Israeli occupation forces leave Lebanon - 1

Israel must fulfill the terms of the ceasefire and withdraw its troops from Lebanese territory - only then will the Shiite organization Hezbollah be ready to enter into dialogue about the fate of its weapons.

This was stated by the Lebanese parliament speaker Nabih Berri to the news portal Asas Media.

„Weapons in the hands of resistance forces are our main card, which we will not give up without the implementation of the ceasefire agreement by Israel,“ he said.

„Hezbollah will not surrender its weapons as long as the occupation forces remain in Lebanon”.

According to him, the Lebanese army has deployed in the southern regions, and Hezbollah has withdrawn its forces from there. “Lebanon has done what was required of it, and the resistance fighters have not fired a single shot since the ceasefire came into effect on November 27, 2024“, said Berry.

“Israel responded by doubling its strikes and attacks”.

The President supported the initiative of the President of the Republic, Joseph Aoun, to hold a dialogue on Lebanon's defense doctrine, within the framework of which the issue of Hezbollah's disarmament would be resolved. "However, this is not enough, we expect the US to put pressure on Israel and force it to fulfill its obligations under the ceasefire agreement," he stressed.

On April 17, Information Minister Paul Morcos said that Israel had violated the ceasefire in southern Lebanon 2,740 times since the ceasefire agreement came into effect on November 27, 2024. According to him, at least 190 people have been killed in Israeli airstrikes and shelling since the end of November last year.
