Russian troops have significantly increased the intensity of fighting on the front, despite statements of readiness for a ceasefire on May 9, said on Wednesday, April 30, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Alexander Sirsky, who is in the Donetsk region, Radio NV reports.

According to him, the Russians have focused their main efforts on the Pokrovskoye direction, where they are trying to break through the Ukrainian defenses and reach the administrative border of the Dnepropetrovsk region.

To this end, the Russians are introducing new units every day, falsely reporting “successes and victories“. At the same time, Syrsky notes that Russian units are suffering losses and are retreating.

He adds that while working in the Pokrovskoye sector, he listened to the commanders and decided to provide additional ammunition, drones, electronic warfare equipment and reserves, with an emphasis on drones.

Andrey Kovalenko, head of the Center for Combating Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council, said that the Russians are intensifying their offensive operations in various areas of the front line, which is delaying ceasefire negotiations.
