Cybertruck Owner Will Wait 1 Year for Parts After Crash - 1

The Tesla Cybertruck's vaunted stainless steel body, while extremely durable, may not be the best choice if you're worried about repairs after an accident. One owner's experience highlights the potential drawbacks - a seemingly easy repair process turned into a year-long ordeal due to the lengthy wait for parts.

According to the owner, a malfunction caused the Cybertruck to accelerate unexpectedly and crash into a neighbor's car. While the individual body panels themselves are relatively affordable, the wait time for replacements negatively impacts the repair process. In this case, the owner faced a year-long wait for parts for relatively common repairs—front fenders, wheel arch liners, trunk lid, hood panel, windshield, bumper, and side windows.

Tesla reportedly denies any liability for the incident and is directing the owner to file an insurance claim. The total repair bill is estimated at a staggering $30,000, with the wait time for parts being the most concerning factor. This is especially surprising given Tesla’s alleged ramp-up in production of the Cybertruck. It’s still unclear which specific parts are causing the delay, but it does cast doubt on Tesla’s ability to meet demand for parts despite increased production.
