AvtoVAZ has started road tests of a crossover based on the Vesta model. The first photo was published by the Tolya portal Avtograd News, in which it can be seen that the innovation was made on the basis of the Vesta SW. The new development features increased ground clearance, a widened track, custom five-bolt wheels and a raised body. The concept is reminiscent of the so-called "Tarzan " since the beginning of this century, but the resemblance is deceptive: the crossover will not have all-wheel drive.
The affiliation of the "mule" to AvtoVAZ is obvious: the car came out of the gates of the scientific and technical center and has Lada factory numbers. The wheel arches are heavily cut: the rear practically touches the tank cap! The wheel shift suggests that the crossover's track will be widened and the wheelbase may also change.
Probably, AvtoVAZ will switch to fastening the wheels with five bolts, that is, the crossover based on the Lada Vesta will not be unified with the original hubs. Official announcements about the project are still unclear, but the factory promises a bombastic design and does not doubt the commercial success of the new product. The car will share the platform with the Vesta and as already mentioned will not have all-wheel drive.
The crossover will go into production only in 2026, but the public premiere is expected next summer - at the international economic forum in St. Petersburg. And the next new Lada products will be Aura, Iskra and Niva Sport: their production and sales are promised to be established within six months, that is, from the winter of next year.
