According to statistics, at the beginning of autumn, sales of new cars in the world decrease. According to GlobalData, in September 2024, 7,547,056 new passenger and light-duty vehicles were purchased worldwide. This is 3.6% less compared to the same month last year.
The leader in terms of sales volume in September is China with 2,287,735 cars. By comparison, 1,180,352 cars were sold in the United States in the same month. The two largest markets in the world also recorded a serious drop in sales in September: in China by 5.2 percent compared to the beginning of autumn 2023, and in the United States by 12 percent.
In Western Europe, 1,175,156 cars were purchased in September, which is also less than a year earlier - by 4.1 percent. In Eastern Europe, in turn, sales, on the contrary, increased: by 10.2 percent, to 398,685 units. The latest growth is also due to car sales in Russia, which increased by 36.7% in September to 150,879 units.
As for the rest of the world markets, in September 263,567 cars were sold in South America, which is 20.3% more than September last year, in Japan - 434,663 units, in Canada - 155,116 units (-0.9% ), and in South Korea - 128,389 units (-2.3 percent). In the nine months of this year, the volume of the world market reached 63,766,366 cars (+0.4% compared to the same period in 2023).
