The largest party in the European Parliament insists on repealing the ban on LPG - 1

The European People's Party (EPP), the largest political group in the European Parliament, is pushing for an EU ban on the sale of new cars with internal combustion engines to be lifted in 2035. The EPP argued that the ban should be delayed to allow the sale of cars powered by alternative fuels such as hydrogen and synthetic fuels to continue. The draft document also notes that manufacturers should be allowed to sell plug-in hybrids beyond 2035.

Furthermore, the EPP is calling for a postponement of the implementation of stricter emissions regulations scheduled for 2025. These regulations could impose significant financial burdens on automakers, especially those struggling to meet the stringent targets.

The EPP position reflects growing concern in the car industry about the feasibility and impact of the EU's ambitious climate targets. Many automakers have expressed concern about the speed of the transition to electric vehicles, citing challenges in supply chains, infrastructure and consumer adoption.

Although the EU's electrification drive is aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving air quality, it is important to strike a balance between environmental goals and economic realities. A hasty transition could have negative consequences for the auto industry and the economy as a whole.
