The cost of maintaining a car is one of the key parameters when choosing a model. As such, this amount does not always depend on the price of the car. Sometimes cheap models can be expensive to operate. The American website Self calculated the cheapest and most expensive cars to maintain. We are talking about the US market, but nevertheless the ranking is curious.
The study compares the cost of one year of operation of different models. The costs of fuel (or charging electric cars), car maintenance and insurance are taken into account.
It turns out that hybrids and electric cars are on average 15% cheaper to maintain than cars with internal combustion engines. In terms of the cheapest maintenance by brand, the leaders are Tesla, Nissan and Honda, while the most expensive to maintain are Lexus, Ram and GMC.
