Spy photos of a prototype of the new next-generation BMW X5 that crashed during testing have appeared on the Internet. The car apparently went off the road and got stuck in deep snow.
As Carscoops reports, the tests are taking place in Sweden at the BMW test track near the Arctic Circle. The photos show that the crossover flew into the ditch and got stuck in a deep snowdrift.
Fortunately, the test driver was not injured. There is currently no information on what damage the prototype suffered, but it is clear that it was seriously stuck, otherwise the X5 would not be able to pull it out.
A tractor had to be called, which eventually pulled the vehicle out of the deep snow and towed it to a safe place.
It is known that the next X5 will receive a completely new design, repeating the style of the Neue Klasse X concept. The model is expected to be offered with both internal combustion engines and a fully electric version.
There is also speculation that BMW is also developing the same car with a hydrogen drive. The company previously announced plans to launch its first serial hydrogen car in 2028. This powertrain will probably be developed jointly with Toyota.
