Mercedes-Benz is abandoning the A-Class sedan. Orders for the four-door version of the model have already been stopped and its production will be discontinued in the coming months. This is reported by the MB Passion website.
The company in Rastatt, Germany, is currently assembling Mercedes-Benz A-Class sedans that were previously ordered. Once they are completed, production of the model will be discontinued.
The Mercedes-Benz A-Class hatchback will remain on the assembly line for now. We recall that the Mercedes-Benz A-Class sedan is a relatively new model that was introduced in 2018.
The reasons for the abandonment of the Mercedes-Benz A-Class Sedan are known. First, the German manufacturer has been reorganizing its lineup and focusing on more expensive and luxurious models with higher margins.
It is well known that the four-door A-Class is Mercedes-Benz's cheapest sedan and the company is unlikely to make much money from it.
Second, there is internal competition between the Mercedes-Benz A-Class Sedan and the just-introduced CLA. These are models from the same class, but the Mercedes-Benz CLA is sportier and is positioned as a coupe-like sedan.
So the brand decided to leave the CLA and in 2025 the third generation of this model will debut on the market, which will receive an electric modification for the first time and will become one of the most high-tech new cars of the brand.
Our team will be in Germany during the first tests of the new CLA, from where we will tell you our initial impressions of this upcoming high-tech car. Expect our review at the beginning of next month.
