The sixth generation of the Renault Clio will receive a different and at the same time modern look. The Director will launch the new look of the brand, restarting the sporty, iconic status of a supermini.
This attempt is made with the idea of keeping it high in the sales charts of small cars. Now new images show what the new Clio could look like. But more interesting is something else. And the new generation will stick to the internal combustion engine and will avoid electrification.
The revival of two “legendary icons“ - the electric small hatchback Renault 5 and the SUV 4 - has allowed the French brand to modernize the design of its “future icons“, said the director of design at Renault Group Laurens van den Acker.
And Clio – launched 35 years ago and about to enter its sixth generation – is one of the three Renault icons, along with Scenic and Espace , that together popularized the multi-purpose vehicle in Europe.
"Our intention is to produce new design icons – although whether that is the case will only be clear in 30 years”, said Renault designer Gilles Vidal.
"With the new Clio we can make very modern-looking, sensual Latin cars“, added van den Acker. "We can push the sexiness, the sensuality and make these cars look very desirable in a modern way."
This dual approach to the product portfolio – legendary icons and future icons – is at the heart of all aspects of the manufacturer's product planning, from design to vehicle platform to powertrain.
