Stellantis stopped the release of a new model because it is an electric car - 1

Stellantis has changed its mind about the launch of the new generation of the Compass crossover. Production was supposed to begin in May 2025 at the company's plant in Brampton, Ontario, which has been idle since last year, when the company stopped assembling the Dodge Charger and Challenger, as well as the Chrysler 300. Now the restart of the facility has been postponed indefinitely.

And all this because Stellantis is reconsidering the previously adopted concept of an “electric future at all costs“. Remember those ubiquitous slogans about a complete transition to clean electricity by 2030? Now everyone is being abandoned one by one, and not only by Stellantis. As we have already informed you, similar steps are also being considered by the European “family” of Volkswagen, Audi and Porsche. It seems that not only in Europe, but also in the USA they are gradually realizing the utopianism of the idea of making absolutely everything electric.

Stellantis has stopped preparations for the production of the electric Compass, while it assesses whether this model will be realized on the market in the United States, writes Automotive News. Let us clarify that for Europe the electric Compass will be made in Melfi, Italy (where the current generation is also assembled) and at the moment Stellantis is not giving up on its plans - at least for now.

And in general, it is clear that the launch of Compass production will not be canceled, but only adjusted. Most likely, in the States they will first launch production of a gasoline or hybrid version - and only then, if things go well, they will "push" an electric car. The STLA Medium platform, on which the new Compass is built, allows for all three versions, so there will be no particular problems. But one thing is clear: Electrification is not going according to plan at Stellantis either.
