Tesla sales in Europe plummeted - 1

For Tesla, the new year 2025 began with an extremely sharp decline in sales on the European market. In January, sales of the brand's electric cars plummeted by as much as 45.2%. The information is from Bloomberg.

According to the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA), only 9,945 Tesla electric cars were sold in January. During the same period in 2024, 18,161 cars were sold in Europe.

This is the worst result in the last two years. By the way, a decline in demand was also registered in the US, with the Tesla Cybertruck pickup losing the greatest popularity.

Tesla sales for January 2025. decreased by 75.4% in Spain (269 cars), by 63.4% in France (1,141 units) and by 59.5% in Germany (1,277). For the first time in the UK, fewer new Tesla cars were purchased than BYD.

It is worth noting that overall demand for electric vehicles in Europe, on the contrary, is growing: 124,341 of them were purchased last month, which is 37% more than in January 2024.

Bloomberg cites two reasons for the decline in demand for Tesla. First, the brand's most popular model is currently undergoing a change - the Tesla Model Y crossover, which has undergone an update.

Second, surveys conducted in the UK and Germany show that Tesla CEO Elon Musk is perceived as a “controversial figure“ due to his ambiguous statements and support for far-right European parties.

The attitude towards the billionaire is deteriorating and his interference in the domestic politics of other countries is considered undesirable, and from there Europeans do not want to buy Tesla electric cars.
