The Czech automaker has expanded the range of the updated Skoda Octavia with a 4x4 version. The car is available with all-wheel drive, both in sedan and station wagon versions. The company says that orders for the new product are already open, and the first deliveries to customers will begin in a few weeks.
Skoda also informs that the Octavia 4x4 is offered exclusively with a 2.0-liter TSI gasoline engine, which works in tandem with a seven-speed DSG transmission and produces a power of 204 horsepower. The company notes that the modified unit is 14 hp more powerful than its predecessor.
In this version, the Octavia accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.6 seconds, and in the station wagon the time is 6.7 seconds. The maximum speed of both models is limited to 228 km/h. It is noted that the Octavia's all-wheel drive system is controlled by an interaxle multi-plate clutch with electrohydraulic control using sensors that constantly monitor driving conditions.
The control unit calculates and applies the optimal power distribution, which allows up to 100% of the torque to be redirected to the rear axle under ideal conditions. If all wheels have equal traction, the central clutch distributes the torque up to a maximum of 50:50 between the front and rear axles.
Skoda engineers have also improved the multi-link rear suspension, which now provides more precise wheel control, improves handling, safety and ride comfort. The Skoda Octavia 4x4 has a higher towing capacity of up to 1,900 kilograms. The new model is now available to order in the Essence, Selection Loft, Lodge, Lounge, Suite and Sportline Design Selections trim levels.
