BMW is preparing a major update of the 5er business sedan. Judging by the spy photos, the new model will receive features from the Neue Klasse concept and will get rid of the characteristic large “kidneys“.
Prototypes of the updated sedan have already passed road tests, where they were photographed by photo spies. The new version has a completely redesigned front, which no longer has the giant branded radiator grille. The updated BMW 5-series will receive a "shark" nose with narrowed headlights connected by a dark strip. In addition, the model has a new bumper with an updated air intake and a protruding splitter.
The taillights and rear bumper have also been changed, but due to the dense camouflage, it is not yet possible to assess these elements in detail. Photo spies were not able to peek into the updated BMW, but it is expected that the sedan will receive a new multimedia system with the X operating system, a new head-up display, a new steering wheel and panoramic iDrive.
As for the engine range, according to insiders, it will consist of familiar and modernized engines. The base 2.0-liter turbo engine will retain its power of 255 hp and 400 Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the 3.0-liter inline-six engine will likely produce 393 hp and 580 Nm. Hybrid and electric versions may be added to the lineup. The official debut of the BMW 5-series is expected in 2026.
