Toyota retains its status as the most popular car brand in the world at the beginning of 2025, although its global sales in January fell by 6.6% year-on-year to 706,544 vehicles.
Despite this decline, however, the Japanese company is significantly ahead of its closest competitors. In second place remains the German Volkswagen with 395,777 cars sold, which is 4.3% less than January 2024.
It is interesting, however, that at the same time VW's market share remains at 6.1%. Honda ranks third - the Japanese manufacturer sold 277,991 cars, showing the largest decline among the leaders - by 22.5% year-on-year.
Ford is the fourth most popular automaker with 270,437 units, and Hyundai ranks fifth with 263,208 cars sold. Nissan holds the sixth position - in January the company sold 226,543 cars.
The top ten of the most popular car brands also includes Kia, Chevrolet, as well as the Chinese BYD and Geely, which continue to strengthen their positions in the global market.
