BMW Group presented its annual report, according to which the share of electric vehicles in total deliveries has increased to 17.4% compared to 14.7% a year earlier. This is not a big achievement, but the company aims to bring the figure to 50% by the end of the decade, reports BMW Blog .

The brand is betting on the Neue Klasse line, within which it plans to launch at least six new models by 2028. Despite these plans, BMW will not give up internal combustion engines. While Mini and Rolls-Royce plan to go electric from the early 2030s, BMW itself will continue to produce petrol and diesel models for the next decade.

But it is a fact that BMW is ahead of its competitors in the share of electric vehicles. In 2024, the company sold 368,475 electric BMWs, an increase of 11.6% compared to the previous year. Including sales of Mini and Rolls-Royce, the total number of pure electric vehicles delivered was 426,536 units, which is 13.5% more than in 2023. Mercedes, by comparison, sold 185,059 electric cars and Audi - 164,000.

While demand for electric vehicles is currently maintaining its levels, deliveries of plug-in hybrids are shrinking. In 2024, BMW sold 5.6% fewer PHEVs and Mini 85%. Now, the company expects the electric vehicle segment to continue to grow with the launch of new models, including the iX3 and i3, as well as the possible appearance of an i1 or i2 in the future.

BMW will continue to expand its electric range in the coming years, using the CLAR platform to create new electric vehicles, but as we have already mentioned, it will not abandon ICE cars, which still account for over 80% of the brand's new sales.
