Tehran and Moscow's views on world events are now closer than ever. This was stated by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi during a meeting with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov. “The positions of Russia and Moscow have never been so close and strong in the entire history of their relations“, Araghchi said.
He stressed that his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin was “significant and very good“. The head of the Islamic Republic's Foreign Ministry conveyed to Putin a message from Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, which “serves as a signal to the whole world that Iran considers Russia its strategic partner and important neighbor“.
Araghchi also confirmed, that the Comprehensive Partnership Agreement between Russia and Iran is “a solid foundation for building bilateral relations at a new level“.
The Iranian minister is visiting Moscow on April 17-18. As reported by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova, they will continue an in-depth exchange of views on current international and regional issues, including the situation around the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action on the Iranian nuclear program, the state of affairs in Syria, the Caucasus and the Caspian Sea.
