Belgium has granted 1.8 billion euros to boost its military industry and scientific research in military technology, the minister said of Defense Ludivin Dedonder speaking at the EU-Ukraine Military Industry Forum.
„Belgium has for the first time allocated a budget of EUR 1.8 billion to stimulate research and production in the defense and security sector. The aim is for this sector to increase scientific research, staff competence and restart industrial production, she said.
Dedonder emphasized that the numerous investments in the defense sector and the development of new military technologies “will not only increase the defense capabilities of Belgium and the EU”, but will also create new jobs and stimulate the Belgian economy.< /span>
She called for the maximum acceleration of the introduction of new technologies in the development of new types of weapons to “ensure the security of Europe”, emphasizing the use of some Belgian systems during combat operations in Ukraine, on -especially underwater drones.
