Farmers from the Kyustendil region will receive up to 80% compensation for their frozen fruit trees - this has already been agreed upon at a meeting at the Ministry of Agriculture, the Municipality announced. Applications for compensation must be submitted to the municipal agricultural services no later than April 25. It is expected that about 200 applications will be submitted, BNR specifies.
In some places, the damage from the frosts on April 8-9 was 100%, said fruit growers from the region. An expert commission will inspect every single massif and garden of registered farmers. The regional governor, Eng. Alexander Pandurski, indicated that a meeting will be organized by the Institute of Agriculture, at which the fruit growers will be explained what measures they should take after the frosts in order to adequately care for the plantations.
