Continuing his efforts to deepen international cooperation and promote the peaceful use of space, NASA Director Bill Nelson will visit Romania and Bulgaria. His visit begins on Thursday, October 17. Both countries have signed the “Artemis“ Agreement, defining basic principles for peaceful exploration of space.

Nelson will meet with high-ranking officials from both countries - President Rumen Radev and Prime Minister of Romania Marcel Cholaku, according to the US Embassy in our country.

In Bulgaria, Nelson will meet with Dr. Rosen Karadimov, Minister of Innovation and Growth, and visit the country's only satellite manufacturer, which produces products for various companies worldwide.

In Romania, Nelson will speak with Bogdan-Gruia Ivan, Minister of Scientific Research, Innovation and Digitization, and Daniel Cruncanu, Director General of the Romanian Space Agency (ROSA). He will also visit Romanian scientific and technological institutions to familiarize himself with the country's scientific facilities.

During his trips to both countries, Nelson will discuss the importance of international partnerships and cooperation in space, including the transatlantic relationship with NASA. Nelson will also meet with students to highlight the benefits of STEM education and the role of young people as the “Artemis“ generation. (NASA uses this term to describe the next generation of space explorers)
