In the Kursk region of the Russian Federation, North Korean troops continue to advance in the Sudzha area. This was reported by the analytical project DeepState on Saturday, FOCUS reported.
"In fact, the Russians want to climb on someone else's back, because the main offensive force of the enemy consists of North Korean soldiers, and it is they who suffer the greatest losses“, the statement said.
The analysts also published a frame showing how the Russian troops are moving in an attack, but due to loss of orientation, they come under artillery fire.
DeepState also confirmed that the Russians tried to use an underground gas pipeline to penetrate the rear of the Ukrainian defense forces. Analysts still do not know how the operation ended.
On March 8, the officer of the Ukrainian armed forces and head of the charity organization "Peace and Cooperation Foundation“ Miroslav Hai said that Ukrainian paratroopers ambushed Russian troops in the Suzhansky district of the Kursk region, who tried to attack the Armed Forces of Ukraine using a gas pipeline.
Miroslav Hai did not specify the date of this operation, but earlier, journalist and editor-in-chief of Censor.NET Yuri Butusov said that Russian troops in the Kursk region used a gas pipeline to attack the positions of the Ukrainian defense forces and penetrated the area of the city of Suzha.
A report by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) dated March 7 stated that for the first time since 2022, Since then, Russia has advanced into the Sumy region to create a threat of encirclement and push the Armed Forces of Ukraine out of the Kursk region.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine states that the situation in the Kursk region is under the control of the command, the information about a massive breakthrough of the Ukrainian border by the Russians in the Sumy region is not true, and in Sudzha, the Russian special forces, which had previously moved along a gas pipeline, suffered “ very heavy“ losses, reports Ukrainskaya Pravda, quoted by FOKUS, referring to a statement from the press service of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
"The information about a massive breakthrough of the state border of Ukraine by Russian units is not true. In the areas of Novenke and Zhuravka in the Sumy region, the enemy is still operating with sabotage reconnaissance groups and small infantry groups of several people. They are trying to gain a foothold on the territory of Ukraine in order to expand the area of combat operations, but are gradually being destroyed.
"In addition, the enemy's combined sabotage and assault groups have moved along a branch of the gas pipeline to gain a foothold on the outskirts of the city of Sudzha in the Kursk region. Currently, Russian special forces are being detected, blocked and destroyed. The enemy's losses in Sudzha are very high“.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine noted that heavy fighting continues in the Kursk region, the situation remains difficult, but is under the control of the Ukrainian command.
The largest Russian attacks took place in the areas from Korenevo to Sudzha, as well as in the areas of Novoivanovka, Malaya Loknya and south of the city of Sudzha.
"Russia included in the attack the most combat-ready units of the Marine Corps (177th Regiment and 810th Brigade), airborne troops, (Ramzan) Kadyrov's men from the "Akhmat" battalion and the 1427th Regiment. Mercenaries from the DPRK, in the amount of up to two battalions, have also been sent into battle.
"Our command sees the whole picture and is taking the necessary measures to strengthen the resilience of the defense. The reserves of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are being used to stabilize the situation. Thanks to these decisions, the enemy units suffered significant losses," the statement said.
On March 8, at around 1:05 p.m. local time, a cross collapsed from the dome of one of the churches in the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra. Rescuers from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine promptly dismantled the structure, using a crank elevator to safely lower the cross, Informator reports, quoted by FOKUS.
Local rescuers did not specify which church the cross belongs to, but the photos show that it is the "All Saints" church. It was built by Hetman Ivan Mazepa. (Hetman/Hetman - "commander of an armed detachment", "captain")
The "All Saints" church was built at the end of the 17th century and is a monument of Ukrainian Baroque architecture.
Authorities in the Russian republics of Chechnya and Dagestan have blocked access to the Telegram platform over concerns that the application could be used by hostile organizations, Reuters reported, citing Russian state news agency TASS.
Russian intelligence services have registered an increase in the activity of armed Islamist groups in the republics of Chechnya and Dagestan, located in the predominantly Muslim South Caucasus region.
"Telegram" "is often used by enemies, as evidenced by the riots at the airport in Makhachkala (the capital of the Russian republic of Dagestan)," said Yuri Gamzatov, Dagestan's digital development minister, adding that the decision to block the messaging app was made at the state level.
Gamzatov referred to the anti-Israel riot in Dagestan in October 2023, when hundreds of protesters stormed the airport to try to attack passengers arriving by plane from Israel. None of the passengers were injured, and authorities have charged several people in connection with the incident. News of the plane's arrival spread on the platform's local channels, where users posted calls for anti-Semitic violence. "Telegram" condemned the attack at the time and said it would block the channels, Reuters noted.
