The price of one of the main products – oil, reached new records. If in Germany the price of a kilogram of oil is around BGN 20, then in the Bulgarian market it exceeds BGN 50 in some cases. One of the Bulgarian organic food brands offers the product for BGN 55 per kilogram. The price of German oils varies between BGN 35 and BGN 45, while on the German market they are sold for BGN 20-25 per kilogram.
French oils beat a record as the price per kilogram is between BGN 45 and 55. Irish oils are the cheapest – BGN 40 per kilo.
The reason for the increase in the price of oil, not only in our country, but also in a number of European countries, lies in the fat content, experts point out. If until a few years ago, one kilogram of butter required 5-6 liters of fresh milk, today more than 10 liters are needed. This double consumption is precisely the reason for the increase in the price of oil on a European scale.
The question remains, however, why in Bulgaria a basic product costs twice as much as, for example, on the German market and why Bulgarian oils are in most cases more expensive than foreign ones.
