Businessman Oleg Deripaska and his Cypriot company Filatona Trading filed a lawsuit in a British court against the intelligence department of the international consulting firm CT Group and its former employees Eugene Curley and Leah James.
The billionaire demands the disclosure of the source of a fake document in which the price of Trekhgornaya Manufactory is overstated - on the basis of which the former head of VEB Vladimir Chernukhin is suing Deripaska and Filatona.
We are talking about a legal battle between a businessman and an official who went to live in London in 2004 for the right to own half of the assets of the Trekhgornaya company, which lasted several years. In October 2024, Deripaska won a case with the law firm Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, who advised Chernukhin and provided a document from which it follows that he is owed not the awarded 95 million USD, but 395 million USD.
Lawyers for Deripaska's structures doubt the authenticity of the document and draw the court's attention to questionable details, including the fact that the report is from 2016, but contains a mention of a document from 2018. The authority agreed to the businessman's request to reveal the identity of the person who provided the document. “If Mr. Chernukhin had something to do with the crime, then his participation must be revealed“, said the judge hearing the case. Quinn Emanuel then explained that the document was obtained from a consulting company and expressed confidence in the authenticity of the materials.
“We are now formally requesting information from them about how this document came into their possession,“ Deripaska representatives said.
