Bulgaria issues bonds for 4 billion euros - 1

Bulgaria has successfully placed debt bonds on international markets for about 4 billion euros. This is the first exit to the foreign market for the year, and the amount was raised through two separate issues with different maturities, market analysts reported to the Bulgarian National Radio.

Financial experts, quoted by the Bulgarian National Radio, comment that the achieved yield is favorable for Bulgaria. The strongest positive influence on the conditions is the expectation that in the summer our country may receive the green light to join the eurozone.

The issued bonds are divided into two categories according to the maturity. About 2.25 billion euros were raised through 9-year bonds, and the remaining approximately 1.75 billion euros - through 13-year bonds. In both issues, a reduction in spreads was achieved, which in practice means that our country has managed to negotiate more favorable terms for the new government debt.

Traditionally, the Ministry of Finance is not in a hurry with official announcements and usually sends detailed information the day after the successful completion of the issues, especially when it comes to international markets.

According to the adopted Budget 2025, the state has the right to assume debt of up to 18.9 billion leva. So far, our country has issued bonds worth 1.8 billion leva on the domestic market.
