CCP recalls several dangerous products for children - 1

After inspections and laboratory tests were carried out, CCP found that that some products on the market do not meet safety standards and pose a potential danger to consumers, especially children. For this reason, orders their immediate withdrawal from the market.

1. Children's swimsuit with laces – In a store in Ruse, children's swimsuits with ties that do not meet the safety requirements of the BDS EN 14682:2015 standard were found. Swimwear has improperly attached ties that exceed the permitted length and pose a risk of injury to children. The products are recognizable by the “Mermaid– centurg” and come in a variety of prints including “shark“ and “Spiderman.

2. Pacifiers and Pacifier Holders – During inspections in commercial establishments in the cities of Sofia and Haskovo, irregularities were found in the products Bebeconfort and Wee baby. Laboratory tests showed that the holders for pacifiers do not meet the safety standard EN 12586:2007+A1:2011 due to exceeding the permissible length and lack of instructions in Bulgarian. These products pose a potential injury hazard, including a suffocation risk for the little ones.

3. Dining chairs – Children's high chairs from the brands Mamas&Papas and MAXI COSI were checked at a site in Sofia. For the “Mamas&Papas Juice“ The CPC found a lack of necessary warnings in Bulgarian, while the MAXI COSI AVA model poses a serious danger due to design flaws such as dangerous pressure points and lack of appropriate safety systems. As a result, the CPC orders the immediate recall of the MAXI COSI AVA high chair and the Mamas&Papas high chair to be brought into compliance with safety requirements.

Each of these decisions is made to ensure the safety of users and prevent possible accidents, especially when it comes to products intended for children. The Commission urges consumers to be particularly careful and to inform themselves about the products they buy. Detailed information on dangerous goods on the Bulgarian and European markets and the measures taken is available on the official website of the Commission for Consumer Protection.
